This weekend at Knockhill (3/4 August) we’re back to Super Lap Scotland action with rounds 5 and 6 of the 2019 series. The competitors in each of the eight classes will be looking at the points tables and beginning to formulate those Championship winning strategies at the tipping-point of the season. With four rounds to go, including this weekend, it’s even more critical that championship points are gained. However, with only one lap in which to win on the day, the pressure on each of those leading drivers in class intensifies. Throw into the mix, two entirely different circuits this weekend – Reverse on Saturday and Clockwise on Sunday – and even more emphasis is placed on those single lap shoot out finals.
The SLS competitors will be out on track four times on Saturday – Practice, Warm Up, Qualifying (the first points scoring activity of the weekend) followed by those single-lap finals later in the day. The same scenario applies to Sunday’s raceday; however, some SLS’ers may opt to appear in the Rockstar Energy Chase Series race that will see them on track for an additional Chase Series qualifying session and of course the time-aggregated
10 lap race.
Aside from a busy SLS schedule, there will also be a host of racing content at this weekend’s event. Our regular BMW Compact Cup series will be back out both days for 3 races each day. Amongst that, we’ll be welcoming the Scottish Legends to the KMSC this weekend with three 10 lap heats each day alongside a 12 minute familiarisation session each morning – the Legends uniquely use drawn lots to form the grid for the opening race.
Additionally, we’ll have The Write On Sign & Display MG Trophy competitors back at Knockhill for their one and only visit to Scotland in 2019. With a host of Scottish interest across the classes and Graham Ross from Crieff currently leading the Championship, the Scots will be keen to put on a show for all their family and friends on home soil. And, from what we can remember about last year’s races off the top of our heads – the action was both dramatic and frenetic.
F1 demo this Sunday (4th Aug) at KH as part of our SLS event with Footwork FA13 car in the capable hands of multiple Legends champion John Paterson. Let’s hope it stays dry so we can see this gorgeous machine at full flight.
Tickets for the event are available online subject to advanced booking discounts. Saturday and Sunday ticket are available individually, or you can book to come for the entire weekend.
