This weekend we go KMSC racing once again as the best riders in Scotland make their way to Knockhill for two more thrilling days of fast and furious competition. Over the course of the weekend, competitors will compete head-to-head on track over a 28-race schedule split between the seven main Championship classes.

In the Superbike and Clubman Class sponsored by Shirlaw’s Motorcycles it was a mammoth tussle at the front in the opening round with three different winners across the weekend. Matt Paulo secured a double, with Lewis Paterson and Willie Monie securing the others. There are easily five or six riders set to battle it out over the course of the season for the 2022 title and with lap times already into the low 49 second bracket, this pace will only intensify as the season progresses. This weekend’s Superbike grid will also see the returning Donald MacFadyen and Kris Duncan return to the fold after their North West 200 exploits.
In the Clubman side of things, it was another three-way split at the head of the field with Patryk Motyka, Mark Little and Steven Mccreight all securing wins. With 12 Clubman bikes set to face-off, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top this time around.
Oliver Barr currently leads the KMSC standings whilst Jon Dickie heads the Scottish standings in the Formula 600 class sponsored by Kirkcaldy Kawasaki following a strong start to the season. This time around, Barr, Dickie and Thrilwall will have national competitors Adon Davie and Sam Munro to contend with – grabbing themselves some valuable track time ahead of the Bennetts BSB meeting on 17-19 June.
In both the Scottish and KMSC Lightweight class sponsored by Auto Perfekt, Championship leader Ross McCulloch has yet to enter at the time of writing this article. That could pave the way for a new name to take the top step of the podium this weekend and there are plenty of potential candidates. The lightweight class will also see Sean Gilfillan return to action, with the former Scottish and KMSC Superbike Champion entering this class for the first time this season. The Formula 400 series will race within the lightweight class over the weekend with a couple of entries to look out for.
If it’s close, intense, paint-swapping race action you are after this weekend. Make sure you are trackside for the Pre-Injection 600 races. Last time out, Michael MacKinnon and Kyle Harper shared two wins apiece, but that was only half the story. With both riders glued to each other throughout the races, the margin of difference in three of the four races was 0.2, 0.1 and 0.1 of a second. This battle will likely rage all season long and will be an excellent watch for all those on the side lines.
Finn Chalk remains imperious in the CB500 class, but with 29 riders set to line up on the grid this weekend – the biggest of the weekend, hopefully the likes of David Henderson, Jay Munro, Max Dillon and Calum Pert can throw a spanner in the works and take the fight to Chalk at the front.
Our junior riders are also set to go again this weekend in the KMSC 125/300 class sponsored by Motorrad Central BMW. Brandon Russell will be out for more race-wins when he returns aboard his 300cc Yamaha, whilst Zoe Paterson, Harley Wylie and Lewis Rae will all be looking for more podium success of their own this weekend.
Once again, with the help of Marin Motorsport, we’ll also see a grid of Sidecars racing here this weekend with experienced campaigner Karl Pring set to return to action. With a number of the big hitters in class off to the Isle of Man TT, we’ll likely see some new names on the top step this weekend, but as always, the sidecars will provide plenty of action for all the assembled fans at Knockhill.
