Sunday 24th July 2016 saw Knockhill Racing Circuit host the inaugural World of Supercars event sponsored by Autoglym. The event itself was a mixture of static activity and track sessions on the 1.27mile clockwise circuit at Knockhill.
A stunning array of supercars where on show from private individuals, car clubs and via some of Scotland’s leading supercar dealerships. We welcomed some of the most exotic cars ever to enter the Knockhill venue including a stunning Bugatti Veyron WRC, a McLaren P1, a Ferrari la Ferrari and memorable models from Lamborghini, Porsche, Lotus, Aston Martin, Tesla and many more.
As well as hundreds of supercars lined up in the paddock, a number of eager owners even ventured onto the Knockhill track to participate in the supercar trackday sessions, and despite the weather, put their stunning cars through their paces on the Knockhill track.
There were even some sessions set aside for dealerships, and there were probably a few invited guests given the tour of the track in some of the newest supercars to market including the all-new electric Tesla – in which GT star Rory Butcher set a new unofficial electric lap record (in the wet) of 1.04.78secs.
Race fans were also able to capture the Hungarian F1 Grand Prix live at the event courtesy of Gran Prix Adventures. Our other associate sponsors were also on site with the Edinburgh Watch Company, Tartan Tarmac, GT Scotland and the Funk Wagon all in attendance with a mixture of club and trade stands. Autoglym, the event’s title sponsor were also on hand showcasing their car care products to an enthusiastic crowd.
Knockhill Events Director, Stuart Gray commented:
“It’s been a phenomenal turn out of supercars today. The weather has tried its best to dampen spirits but I’m extremely happy with the organisation and quality of content on show today. We’re hoping to make this event a regular feature at Knockhill and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our title sponsor, Autoglym and all the other companies, individuals and clubs that have helped make the event happen.”
Here’s just a few highlights from the event. We hope to make this event a regular occurrence at Knockhill, so make sure you check out our 2017 listings at the turn of the year.
We hope to see everyone back in 2017.
