It’s almost time, we are just 4 days out from the Paul Walker Tribute event at Knockhill; which will also play host to the final round of the 2016 Super Lap Scotland Championship powered by Rockstar Energy Drink.
The fastest, road-going and modified, road car drivers in Scotland, have battled all season long in the hope of being on that final rostrum on Sunday 18th September – over 50 drivers will arrive at Knockhill, primed and ready to go all-out for the fastest lap in search of title glory and overall ‘King of Knockhill’ award.
Our SLS competition will see seven individual class champions crowned and an average 350bhp per car – with Pro class competitors averaging 750bhp – unleashed onto the twists and dips of the Knockhill tarmac throughout one final day of competition. This weekend’s action will take place on the Knockhill Reverse Circuit – with a current lap record of 51.610s the time to beat – set back in 2015 by Andy Forrest in his Pro Class Subaru Impreza Type RA.
Aside from the SLS action, there will be a whole swathe of Paul Walker Tribute action in memory of the late movie icon. As well as feature cars on display – replicas from the movie – our big screen will also be playing out the 2 Fast 2 Furious movie – the second in the soon-to-be eight movie franchise; with the latest installment set for release in April 2017. We’ll have the popular Paul Walker Tribute board, moment of noise and a track invasion at the end of the day – that will hopefully see hundreds of cars take to the Knockhill track for a unique photo opportunity.
Elsewhere, we’ll have possibly the biggest gathering of Show Cars we’ve ever seen at Knockhill – with 500 plus cars looking likely to attend. We’ll have models on show from all the iconic marques; in every shape, size and colour you could imagine, and then some. And, to top it all off, most will be vying for those Show ‘n’ Shine awards that will see the best in class cars, and their owners, walk off with the judges’ recognition and a bunch of Autosmart Fife goodies.
This element of the show will also attract top clubs from up and down the country for a spot of friendly show car competition. Last year’s Paul Walker Tribute Club Stand winners – GGR (Motomanics. The Club that welcome’s all Motor Enthusiats. Regardless of Marque or Model) – will be back to see if they can defend their title against a number of leading outfits; including 2016 Scottish Car Show Best Outdoor Club Stand winners The Dub Side (A friendly car club for likeminded VAG enthusiasts). The competition will be stiff with cars to look out for on both sides including a Lola, New RS’s, Wrapped Swift and Polo and Scotland Fastest Mini (All GGR), and a Yellow Mk5 Golf GT, Audi S1, unique mk4 Golf Diesel (all Dub Side); as well as countless others from clubs representing Subaru, Mitsubishi, Ford, Nissan and more.
Additional track action will come in the shape of SLS Trackday Sessions – where you can take your car onto the Knockhill track (these have now sold out – but there is a waiting list if you want added), and Pilbeam Judd driver, Stuart Robb Jr. will be on hand to see if he can set a new outright lap record in his ridiculously quick single-seat racer. Drag racing and drifting demonstrations have become a regular feature at Knockhill this year and they’ll once again play out throughout the lunch break.
Continuing the Hollywood theme, we’ll see an impressive array of muscle cars (as seen in our preview video) on display and periodically paraded on track alongside our Paul Walker feature cars throughout the day.
There will also be a number of trade stands on the day, including those manned by our very friendly SLS associate sponsors:
RA Motorsport Developments, Samsonas, Clark Motorsport, Xtreme Performance Clutch, AET Turbos, Turner Autosport, Turbosmart, Whiteline, HQ Garage and Edinburgh Watch.
Make sure you stop by if you have any questions regarding car modifications, clutches, clamps and turbos – they are a fountain of knowledge and happy to assist where possible.
All that’s left really, is to invite you along to one of the biggest modified car meetings of the year – at Knockhill – on Sunday 18th September.
Tickets can be booked online now, or on the day of the event at Knockhill.
Look forward to seeing you here!
