After six rounds of competition, the 2016 Super Lap Scotland Championship sponsored by Rockstar Energy Drink came to a thrilling conclusion at our third-running Paul Walker Tribute event – held at Knockhill on Sunday 18th September.

Ahead of the event, a number of classes had already been decided, however, that still saw over 50 competitors line up on the SLS starting grid for a pressure-cooker filled day of action on track.

At the event, after all seven championship classes had been out on track the final results of the season began to unfold. Congratulations to all the SLS competitors this year, their enthusiasm, camaraderie and eagerness to help fellow competitors has shone through; equally their endeavor to improve and chase those ultimate lap times have entertained fans and spectators alike.

In the end though, well done to all our 2016 Champions:

Alongside the conclusion to the Super Lap Scotland Championship, there were also a number of other activities to amuse the crowds. Our biggest gathering of show cars saw up to 500 cars on site, and all competing in a number of show and shine competitions. Additionally, there were drag racing and drifting demonstrations; a Flyin’ Fyfer dragster demo and Hot Hatch sessions for those who wanted to enjoy their own slice of on-track action.

The Paul Walker Tribute element also played a major role on the day, with tribute cars, American muscle cars and a feature parade for some of the top models on show. Charity fundraising, tribute board and a track invasion were also a few other activities that took place on the day.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all the people, behind the scenes, that give so much to make Championships like SLS so enjoyable to be part of. Finally, to our SLS sponsors – Rockstar Engery Drink (title) and RA Motorsport Developments, AET Turbos, Turbosmart, Whiteline, Clark Motorsport, Samsonas, Extreme Performance Clutch, HQ Garage, Edinburgh Watch Company and Turner Autosport (all associate); thank you once again for all your support in 2016. We hope you’ll all be part of the Championship next year and we thoroughly look forward to welcoming you back for another six Championship rounds filled to the brim with action, entertainment and above all… competition.

If you’d like to get involved with SLS, check out the main Super Lap Scotland website, email Championship driver rep Rory Butcher (roryb@knockhill.co.uk) or join the active community on Facebook where you can post questions and gather info on entering one of our rounds in 2016.

Above all, remember that SLS is open to all makes and models, road cars and race cars, and anything in between. And, with seven different Championship classes and on-the-day licences we’re sure we’ll find a suitable competitive class for most 4-wheeled vehicles. Our friendly inclusive paddock will be a great source of knowledge and an even better place to make new friends – who all enjoy motorsport just as much as us here at Knockhill.
