Following the announcement yesterday that Gordon Shedden is off to WTCR with Audi Sport and Team WRT, Duncan Vincent caught up with the man in question to talk about the monumental move.
Gordon will pilot an Audi RS 3 LMS in the newly rebranded WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup, joining Jean-Karl Vernay at the Belgian outfit as they prepare for what promises to be a stellar year for the championship.
To top things off, Gordon Shedden also becomes the latest Scot – following in the footsteps of Allan McNish to sign as a factory driver for the German car manufacturer – an achievement not lost on the 39 year old Scot.
“If l’m half as successful as Allan… I’ll be doing a good job,” commented Shedden.
Gordon will start the year off in Marrakesh before venturing to the four corners of the globe in a season that will see him compete in 30 WTCR races. Other AudiSport commitments may also see the Scot take on some other racing activities at far-flung destinations around the world.
