The gloves are on & the season is go!

The first official Bennetts BSB test of the season got underway at Monteblanco Circuit in Spain. A full compliment of riders took to the track for their first real action of 2019, with the likes of Redding, Brookes and Irwin setting down their first formative laps of the new season. Young Scot, Tarran Mackenzie is also out in Spain getting to grips with his 2019 McAMS Yamaha and a number of Superstock 1000 riders are also testing their new machinery.

Tarran was recently with us at the Scottish Motorcycle Show talking all things BSB. He’s really looking forward to the new season having amassed a great deal of experience and points in his debut season – which saw him finish 10th overall and secure fantastic podium finishes at Sliverstone, Assen and Brands hatch in 2018.

Aside from the headlining Bennetts British Superbike Championship, the Knockhill event over the weekend of 28-30 June will see a top-class support race programme take place. And within it, there will be a whole host of Scots competing throughout the year and indeed even more wild-carding at the Knockhill round.

British Talent Cup winner, Rory Skinner has finally secured a ride for the 2019 season following an uncertain start to the year. He’ll be teaming up with BSB legend, Chris Walker on board a new Kawasaki ZX-6R in the Dickies British Supersport Championship.

The great news for Scottish Bike fans is that we’ll see a whole host of riders appear on the BSB bill this year. Steven Kershaw and Stuart Clark will be back to defend their British Sidecar Championship title. Sam Munro will be join Rory Skinner in the British Supersport series at various rounds and Taylor Mackenzie will have the have the Superstock 1000 title firmly within his sights this year, riding the Bathams BMW.

Lewis Rollo switches to Aprilia RSV4RF machinery for his tilt at the Superstock 1000 title and fellow Scot, Paul McClung graduates to a full season on the national scene after a strong season in Thundersport. There will also be a number of youngsters making the step up to national racing and appearing on the British Talent Cup.

All-in-all, the Knockhill BSB round on Friday 28th to Sunday 30th June should be a spectacular affair. It won’t be long until it comes around, so make sure you pre-book your tickets, travel, accommodation/camping and VIP Hospitality packages and get set for the biggest motorcycle event at Knockhill in 2019.
