Super Lap Scotland powered by Rockstar Energy Drink action from Round 1 of the 2019 season for Classes C and D. Some strong entries in both these classes so we should be in for some terrific competition throughout the year.
C Class
We had three drivers line up in Class C for the season opener with returning Champion Ian Pitman the man to beat. Early on, Hamish Gordon set the pace topping the timesheets during the practice sessions. However, moving into qualifying and the finals it was all about Pitman, with the Subaru driver taking the win ahead of Steve Arkley in his Megabusa. Hamish Gordon failed to make the final following mechanical problems.
D Class
A strong eleven-car field lined up on the starting line for the opening round in Class D – traditionally one of the strongest classes in terms of numbers in SLS. This class also saw strong debut performances from Paul Smith (BMW M3) and Graham Crane (Porsche Cayman GT4); with Smith topping the timesheets in practice at his first ever SLS event. However, former Champion and SLS regular Ian Bonthrone set the record straight in qualifying and the finals, taking top spot in both ahead of Henderson and Smith, then Smith and Crane in the final. There are some strong drivers in this class, Michael Foster, Stephen Henderson and Robert Jobson to name a few. This class should indeed be one to watch in 2019.
