Action from the first round of the 2019 Super Lap Scotland powered by Rockstar Energy Drink series covering the A, B and Pro classes. It was a strong start to the season for SLS as we hosted our biggest entry for the season-opener since the Championships launch.
Pro
Former King of the Hill winner Colin Dorward (Mitsubishi Evo V) made his SLS return in the Pro Class however a series of issues plagued his progress throughout the day.
Eric Holmes, moving back up to the Pro Class for 2019 in his Mitsubishi Evo 6RS, also had his fair share of trouble, but managed to resolve the issues for the final. Nev Wood and Matty Lawson also turned out for Round 1, with Lawson taking the qualifying win with a time of 54.238 secs ahead of Holmes and Wood.
In the final, Colin Dorward managed to resolve his issues temporarily to post the fastest time of the day, however his 53.0.64 secs lap time is miles off where the former Champion wants to be. Eric Holmes rounded out a solid return to the Pro Class with a solid second place finish ahead of Matty Lawson.
Class A
A little light on entries in A class however through warm up , practice and qualifying David Long (Caterham R400), was in a class of his own (literally), ending up fastest overall at Qualifyings end.
Class B
Six drivers rolled up to compete in Class B at Round 1. However, it was Craig Nicol (Caterham Super 7) who showed some real brilliance posting lap times that put him fastest overall in practice ahead of any class.
Paul Rankin was hot on his heels though, whilst Keith Cowie continues to struggle with mechanical gremlins that hark back to last season. The other Class B competitors, Andy Clotworthy, Michael Rigby and Ben Robinson were all circulating within a second of each other.
