This weekend will see the conclusion to the 2019 Scottish Motor Racing Club season. With only a handful of the individual Championships wrapped up ahead of the weekend (Formula Ford and Mini Cooper S Cup) that leaves six champions yet to be decided.
Action on the day will take place on the Knockhill Clockwise Circuit, with up to 16 races set to decide the 2019 title winners on Sunday 6th October. Action will start early in the morning with those all-important qualifying sessions were nerves might get the best of some of the title-challenging drivers. From there, the grid positions will determine the starting order for the opening race of each class, with the finishing order determining the order of the second and in some cases third races (Mini Cooper Cup and Scottish Legends).
In the Scottish Legends Cars Championship, it will a straight fight between David Newall, who currently leads the series on 4670 points, ahead of John Paterson who trails by a mere 55-points. There will be 600 points up for grabs this weekend – 200pts for a race win in either of the three Legends races. Expect this one to go to the final few laps of the season to decide the winner.
The inaugural Scottish C1 Championship will see Finlay Brunton (leader) face-off against Ryan Smith for the overall Championship win. If Smith and Brunton go hammer-and-tongs at each, Kieren Preedy might be able to blindside the pair of them should they fail to finish either of the two races. The Scottish C1 Championship has been a great addition to the SMRC this season with healthy grids, competitive racing and its fair share of action out on track.
The Scottish Mini Cooper Cup is another Championship that tends to go to the wire, with a few twists and turns along the way. This year’s Championship leader Robbie Dalgleish, heads to the final encounter of the year with both Michael Weddel and Vic Covey Jnr. hot on his heels – with Covey the rank outsider at this moment in time. However, we’ve seen in the past with the Mini Championship that a DNF in the opening race, or a poor qualifying performance can have dire consequences for those hoping to seal one of the most toughly fought Championships on the SMRC bill.
Aside from the classes mentioned above, we’ll also see action from the Scottish Saloon and Sports Car Championship, The Scottish Fiesta ST Championship and of course the Classic Sports and Saloon Car Championship.

The SMRC is a great, thrill-a-minute, action aplenty day of entertainment for the whole family. You’ll be able to get up-close and personal with the drivers and their cars in Knockhill’s open paddock area, before watching the same cars on track race at break neck speed around Knockhill’s unique twists and turns.
