Gordon Shedden will return to the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship in 2022 aboard a newly rebuilt and re-engineered Team Dynamics Honda Civic Tyre R to tackle the launch of the BTCC’s new hybrid era. Shedden will once again partner Daniel Rowbottom – who produced a strong performance last year to claim the Jack Sears Trophy with the Halfords Racing with Cataclean team.
A third slot in the Team Dynamics squad is available and it will be interesting to see if Matt Neal makes a racing return in 2022 or if someone new enters the fray. We’re sure there will be plenty of interested parties…
Halfords Racing with Cataclean team principle Matt Neal commented:
“These are two of the best drivers on the grid and we wanted to make sure we retained them for the 2022 season. Dan has proven himself as a title winning package and with Gordon being a three time BTCC Champion already his creds speak for themselves. The third drive is still up for grabs, and we currently still have a vacant position, so let’s see what happens. The engineers have been working tirelessly since the end of the season to build two brand new cars for this new Hybrid era, and we are looking at a full-on attack to win all the titles this season!”
We spoke to Gordon recently ahead of today’s announcement and here’s what he had to say.
It’s great news to have another Scot lining up on the BTCC grid next year alongside the recently confirmed Laser Tools Racing duo – Aiden Moffat and Dexter Patterson. With Rory Butcher also earmarked to return to the BTCC with the Toyota Gazoo Racing squad for 2022 as well – home fans will have even more reason to join us at the 30th Anniversary meeting at Knockhill on Saturday 30th & Sunday 31st July. We hope to be releasing some additional information on the 30th anniversary celebrations very soon.
Tickets for the Knockhill BTCC event can be booked online via the website.
