We hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year and are looking forward to the 2022 season as much as we are! We thought we’d bring you up to speed with what’s been happening over the winter at Knockhill. Here are just a few news items of note, and as always, we aim to give you the best visit possible, whether spectating, karting, driving or riding.

First Event of the Year

Although the Events season doesn’t really kick off until April, we are all looking forward to our annual opening event of the year – the Grant Construction Knockhill Stages Rally on Sunday 20th Feburary. We’ll have 50 or so crews vying for Rally glory during the 10-stage 40 mile single-venue rally.

The BIG Events of 2022

We are delighted that a strong line-up of events is confirmed for 2022, with the three highlights being the Bennetts British Superbikes on 17-19 June (Fathers Day!), the McRae Rally Challenge on 2-3 July and, of course, the Kwik Fit British Touring Cars on 30-31 July. Worth noting that both the BSB and BTCC are slightly earlier than normal, so make sure you put the dates in your diary and get your tickets soon! 

Throughout 2021, we filmed behind the scenes at our major events in what where two very different outcomes for the circuit crowd-wise. Our five-part mini-series is now all online and you can catch up with all the Episodes via the links below – all in association with Event Scotland.

Track Work & Paddock Sizes

Track work and venue improvements. We are delighted to be installing a further 4 FIA spec light panels around the track to help the marshals communicate with riders and drivers. These huge panels have improved safety no end as they are so visible and allow the track to be run as safely as possible. Off track, we are increasing our paddock space as the major event space demands are getting bigger every year.

Karting & Trackdays

Karting can now be booked online, track day registration and briefings are done at home prior to travelling and new formats for the Driving Experiences ensure the time at the circuit is the most enjoyable. If you are a regular on track, then why not consider joining the Track Day Club, its only £55 and you enjoy 10% off track time, which can add up to over £200 in a year.

McRae Rally Challenge

The McRae Rally Challenge organising team will be announcing an assembly of rally stars, past and present, the likes of which Knockhill has never seen before. We are delighted that Jimmy McRae will be attending the Grant Rally which has the biggest entry in years and will be announcing the first stars not long after. There are a few top names doing this event as practice ahead of the main event in July!

Events & Season Passes

We are delighted to be returning to 4 KMSC organised Scottish Championship bike events this year giving you the chance to see some fabulous Club racing with riders lapping at near British Championship pace. We are also honoured to be hosting the 40^th anniversary Jock Taylor Sidecar Trophy race which will also feature the British Sidecars in September.

The SMRC and KMSC car meetings are looking strong with the SMRC reverting to full day formats for 2022, kicking off in April with the return of the National Formula Fords. Round 2 in May will feature the David Leslie Trophy race for Super Tourers and a guest race of some fast Modified Fords. Around 40 Caterham Graduates visit the KMSC Super Lap Scotland event in June together with the first ever visit by the VW Cup.

It is best to purchase tickets in advance of your visit and if you are a regular visitor, then do consider purchasing a Season Ticket. There are three main types to choose from, the Gold gives you access to all events, all year and has a host of additional benefits such as discounts on our Driving Experiences and Merchandise Shop. The Four Wheel Pass is for all car events and Two Wheel for all bike event, each have additional benefits too. Vacancies for FULL TIME Kart Centre Track Marshal and SUMMER positions for weekend / part time Track Marshals.

Duties include:

• Marshalling the 500m outdoor karting track
• Ensuring customers enjoy their karting safely and follow safety procedures
• Refuelling karts, minor repairs and general maintenance
• Cleaning safety wear and helmets
• Kart circuit maintenance
• Friendly and welcoming manner with the public

Own transport essential, no experience necessary as training will be given.

The full time position will also be required to support the Kart Centre manager and learn the computer operated timing system and booking system.

Kart centre opening hours are 10am to 5pm, every weekend and selected weekdays.

The Karting Centre will be open from 10am-5pm each day with 20 minute and 30 minute slots available for booking. All bookings must be pre-booked as we’ll have strict access control to the venue – there is no availability to arrive and drive, so please book in advance via main Knockhill telephone number (01383 723337) – lines are open 10am-3.30pm.

Remember, these sessions are for Fife residents only to comply with current Government guidelines and a number of covid-19 safety protocols will be in place to ensure everyone’s safety.

So, if you are looking to add some race action into your Easter Holiday activity list then please give is a call.

We’ve got lots of exciting race/session formats and lots of availability in December; allied to digital sign-on, lap times and of course all the obligatory Covid-19 measures in place to keep everyone safe. So, if you are going stir crazy at home, and you live in Fife, and need to expel some energy and adrenaline… then Knockhill Karting may just be for you.

Give us a call, the winter chills will soon be a distant memory as you hurtle around the Knockhill Karting track with some family members or friends you haven’t seen in a while.

Knockhill Karting

Initially, karting bookings are limited to a maximum of 8 drivers from a total of 2 households. All bookings must be made in advance and pre-registration documents are required to be completed online, prior to arrival. We have stringent hygiene processes in place and ask that all customers strictly comply with the social distancing measures that we have in place at the karting centre. Unfortunately, we are not yet able to provide larger group karting events or karting club sessions and we hope that they will follow shortly.

For our driving experience customers, we have released some initial dates in August, September and October. These are available for booking now either by phone or via the website. We have also added an additional 6 months of validity to all current vouchers to allow our customers the option to delay booking their experience if required or preferred.

Our office team are back to work at the venue and are now available to help customers with bookings and enquiries 6 days a week. The opening times are Wednesday to Monday 9.30am to 4.30pm. Please be patient, our team is not yet at full capacity and your telephone enquiries may take longer than normal to be answered. We are not yet accepting visitors to the office and would ask that all contact is currently made by phone or email.

For all those that have had bookings cancelled in the past few months, we will be in touch to advise of the new dates.

Thank you very much for your support and patience over the past few months and we look forward to welcoming you to Knockhill Racing Circuit in the near future.

Here’s Knockhill Managing Director Jillian Shedden to outline the current situation regarding Knockhill activities:

Despite this recent postponement, we are expecting some information from the Scottish Government over the next few weeks on how they plan to ease the lockdown restrictions and subsequently what that will mean for Knockhill activities. Once we have this information, we’ll be able to formulate a plan for our return and are hopeful of being able to release an updated schedule (for all activities) at the beginning of June.

If you have any of the following bookings, please take note of these postponement dates:

Driving Experiences – Postponed until 30^th June
Knockhill Karting – Postponed until 22^nd June
Knockhill Trackdays – Postponed until 22^nd June

If you have a booking or voucher with us, rest assured they will still be valid for any rescheduled dates. And, likewise, all current and valid vouchers will have an additional six months added to the expiry date in order for you to complete your booking post lockdown.

In terms of Knockhill Events, we’ve also taken the decision to postpone all those events up to and including the 21st June. Once again, we await confirmation from the Government on how we can proceed. Then we’ll be able to plot the remainder of the motorsports season. Any tickets you hold for any of the postponed events will still remain valid for the rescheduled dates. If the event can’t be rescheduled or the revised dates don’t suit, then refunds will be offered. However, we’d kindly ask that you to hold onto your tickets for the moment, at least until a revised calendar can be announced – most likely at the beginning of June.

In the meantime, we’d like to say thanks to all our customers during this difficult period, your patience and understanding has been a real positive note for us throughout. We are very much looking forward to coming back stronger than ever, with an exciting and enjoyable motorsports line-up for the remainder of the season.

If you had a proposed date to come to us within this timeframe, we will happily allow you to rebook within a six-month period.  Similarly, if you hold a Karting Gift Voucher, we’ll automatically add on an additional 6 months to the voucher expiry date to ensure you have enough time to complete your booking when we get back up and running.

At the moment, we don’t have a set date for when we will be operational again. However, we will contact you again when the situation becomes clearer.
