This follows guidance from both the SACU and guidance issued by the Cabinet Office via the Gov.uk website and therefore we invite anyone who was scheduled to race this weekend to do so, and any fans who had plans of travelling to the event to continue to make those travel preparations and attend the event.

If, your personal preference is not to attend this weekend’s meeting in tribute to the Queen and to respect the overwhelming sense of National Mourning, any monies already paid to Knockhill will be fully refunded.

We’ll keep everyone informed of those moments of respect throughout the weekend over the paddock pa system and would encourage everyone on-site to take a moment to pay their own personal respects to the late Queen.

KMSC Round 2 – 28/29 May https://www.knockhill.com/wordpress/2022/05/kmsc-round-2-28-29-may/ Thu, 26 May 2022 10:45:38 +0000 https://www.knockhill.com/wordpress/?p=24777 This weekend we go KMSC racing once again as the best riders in Scotland make their way to Knockhill for two more thrilling days of fast and furious competition. Over the course of the weekend, competitors will compete head-to-head on track over a 28-race schedule split between the seven main Championship classes.

Featuring:

– Scottish/KMSC Championship Superbikes & KMSC Clubman Sponsored by Shirlaws

– Scottish/KMSC Championship Formula 600s – Sponsored by Kirkcaldy Kawasaki

– Scottish/KMSC Championship Lightweights – Sponsored by Auto Perfekt

– Scottish Championship CB500s

– Scottish/KMSC Pre Injection 600

– KMSC 125s/300s – Sponsored by Motorrad Central BMW

– KMSC Sidecars sponsored by Marin Motorsport

In the Superbike and Clubman Class sponsored by Shirlaw’s Motorcycles it was a mammoth tussle at the front in the opening round with three different winners across the weekend. Matt Paulo secured a double, with Lewis Paterson and Willie Monie securing the others. There are easily five or six riders set to battle it out over the course of the season for the 2022 title and with lap times already into the low 49 second bracket, this pace will only intensify as the season progresses. This weekend’s Superbike grid will also see the returning Donald MacFadyen and Kris Duncan return to the fold after their North West 200 exploits.

In the Clubman side of things, it was another three-way split at the head of the field with Patryk Motyka, Mark Little and Steven Mccreight all securing wins. With 12 Clubman bikes set to face-off, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top this time around.

Oliver Barr currently leads the KMSC standings whilst Jon Dickie heads the Scottish standings in the Formula 600 class sponsored by Kirkcaldy Kawasaki following a strong start to the season. This time around, Barr, Dickie and Thrilwall will have national competitors Adon Davie and Sam Munro to contend with – grabbing themselves some valuable track time ahead of the Bennetts BSB meeting on 17-19 June.

In both the Scottish and KMSC Lightweight class sponsored by Auto Perfekt, Championship leader Ross McCulloch has yet to enter at the time of writing this article. That could pave the way for a new name to take the top step of the podium this weekend and there are plenty of potential candidates. The lightweight class will also see Sean Gilfillan return to action, with the former Scottish and KMSC Superbike Champion entering this class for the first time this season. The Formula 400 series will race within the lightweight class over the weekend with a couple of entries to look out for.

If it’s close, intense, paint-swapping race action you are after this weekend. Make sure you are trackside for the Pre-Injection 600 races. Last time out, Michael MacKinnon and Kyle Harper shared two wins apiece, but that was only half the story. With both riders glued to each other throughout the races, the margin of difference in three of the four races was 0.2, 0.1 and 0.1 of a second. This battle will likely rage all season long and will be an excellent watch for all those on the side lines.

Finn Chalk remains imperious in the CB500 class, but with 29 riders set to line up on the grid this weekend – the biggest of the weekend, hopefully the likes of David Henderson, Jay Munro, Max Dillon and Calum Pert can throw a spanner in the works and take the fight to Chalk at the front.

Our junior riders are also set to go again this weekend in the KMSC 125/300 class sponsored by Motorrad Central BMW. Brandon Russell will be out for more race-wins when he returns aboard his 300cc Yamaha, whilst Zoe Paterson, Harley Wylie and Lewis Rae will all be looking for more podium success of their own this weekend.

Once again, with the help of Marin Motorsport, we’ll also see a grid of Sidecars racing here this weekend with experienced campaigner Karl Pring set to return to action. With a number of the big hitters in class off to the Isle of Man TT, we’ll likely see some new names on the top step this weekend, but as always, the sidecars will provide plenty of action for all the assembled fans at Knockhill.

With two days of 160mph racing ahead over Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May, featuring some of the best bike racing talent in the country showcasing their skills, book your tickets for a fabulous weekend of race action… you won’t be disappointed. With over 130 riders set to battle it out on track, the KMSC racing events always provide lots of entertainment and thrills over the proposed 28-race schedule.

Bumper line-up for opening Scottish/KMSC event of the year! https://www.knockhill.com/wordpress/2022/04/bumper-line-up-for-opening-scottish-kmsc-event-of-the-year/ Wed, 27 Apr 2022 11:37:25 +0000 https://www.knockhill.com/wordpress/?p=24727 This weekend signals the opening round of the 2022 KMSC Bike Racing Championships. Over 130 riders will make their way to Fife this weekend to participate in two days of full-on racing. As with every passing year there are a few changes up and down the paddock, let’s have a quick look at this weekend’s entry list and pick out some notable names.

In terms of race action for fans this weekend… there will be plenty. 28 races split between seven different main-championship classes. But the main action of course will come from the top billing Superbike and Clubman Class – sponsored by Shirlaw’s Motorcycles.

Defending Champion, Callum Grigor heads back to see if he can defend the KMSC Superbike title he claimed in 2021. Sadly, the Gilfillan brothers (Greg & Sean) are taking a sabbatical this year and that means we need some other riders to compete at the front – of which there are plenty of candidates. Multiple champion, Bruce Burnie; his teammate Willie Monie, and of course entering the Superbike fray this year is 2021 Formula 600 Champion, Lewis Paterson. Not to mention, KMSC lap record holder and British Championship regular Matt Paulo who has also entered this weekend.

This weekend will actually be the second round of races for the Scottish Championship and judging by the first weekend we could be in for some exhilarating racing at the front with Paterson already chalking up a first win of the season. Bruce Birnie also claimed a win at the opening event of the year, with Willie Monie taking two solid 2nd places first time out.

In the Clubman side of things, former Champions Andy Buchanan and last year’s winner Steven Paterson move into the Superbike reckoning for 2022, that leaves a vacant opportunity for a new name to be added to the Clubman trophy for 2022. With nine championship hopefuls set to lock horns this weekend, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top this weekend.

With Paterson moving up to the Superbike class, that also leaves an open berth at the head of the Formula 600 Championship sponsored by Kirkcaldy Kawasaki. Arguably, Bruce Birnie could be a candidate for the title if he commits to the full season, but there is certainly an opportunity for a new name to stake a claim to the 2022 title.

Kenny Thirlwall was competitive in 2021 following his switch from the Lightweight category; Harry Pullar could be another candidate after winning the Pre-Injection 600 Championship last year, he’ll move up to the 600cc category hoping to build on that hard-fought championship win last year. Elsewhere, Oliver Barr moves up from Lightweights, Owen Fozzard – a former KMSC Champion –returns to the Formula 600 ranks this year alongside another experienced racer Jon Dickie. We won’t make any championship predictions at this point, but it will be great to see who rises to the top of the field this weekend.

The Lightweight class has a new sponsor for 2022 in the shape of AutoPerfekt with owner and racer Paul Marshall entering the fold on his Aprilla. Owen Paterson had a strong season last year and will be looking to piece together another title tilt in 2022 – indeed Owen will be one of three Paterson children on the grid this season with younger sister Zoe set to line up on a F300 this season. Elsewhere in the class, National competitor Keo Walker joins the grid this weekend and CB500 Scottish Champion from 2021, Ross McCulloch moves up to the Lightweight class for 2022. We’ll also have some competitors lining up on F400 machinery and they’ll battle it out for their own Championship title within the Lightweight races (For Rod Walker :-)).

The KMSC and Scottish Championship Pre-Injection 600 grid will see 22 racers line up for the off on Saturday with Kyle Harper and Michael McKinnon set to reignite their thrilling rivalry from last year. Both riders pushed Harry Pullar all the way to the end in the title battle and we’re sure they’ll be hoping to take top spot this season. That said, Jonny Stewart currently leads the Scottish Pre Injection Championship standings following a brace of victories at East Fortune back in April – will he reign supreme at Knockhill this weekend.

The KMSC and Scottish Championship CB500 class returns for 2022 with more strong numbers. 22 riders will take the start on Saturday with Finn Chalk back to defend the KMSC title secured at the very last round ahead of Ross McCulloch in 2021. That said, old foe Keith Shepherd re-enters the fray and Mark Fearn – blindingly fast on his day – will have his own aspirations towards a title challenge in 2022.

There are a few new names in the F300 category with Kade Watt and Liam Kiernan making their debuts this weekend at the tender age of 12 years old. F300 champion from 2021 Brandon Russell returns to see if he can fend off a strong line-up of young riders eager to make their way up the bike racing ladder. Perhaps, one day we’ll see one of these young riders grace the BSB stage like Rory Skinner – who started his big circuit career in this very class.

With the Isle of Man TT on the horizon, we have a number of front-running Sidecar entries here this weekend. Most notably, British F2 Championship and Jock Taylor Memorial Trophy winners Lee Crawford and Scott Hardie are here to test their F2 in preparation for their tilt at the TT trophy races this year. Similarly, the pairing of Greg Lambert and Ben McBride may also be using this weekend to iron any kinks out of their outfit before visiting the island. However, with 18 outfits ready for competition this weekend, with some mightily experienced pairings in the ranks, we should see some terrific three-wheeled action this weekend.

If you fancy joining us for a weekend of thrilling bike race action, tickets can be booked online via the Knockhill website, or simply head along to the gate on the day and make payment as you enter.

Hope to see you here!

KMSC Season Finale https://www.knockhill.com/wordpress/2021/09/kmsc-season-finale/ Mon, 06 Sep 2021 12:59:48 +0000 https://www.knockhill.com/wordpress/?p=24425 Yesterday we hosted the final round of the 2021 Knockhill Motor Sports Club Championships, and what a day it was. It was a bumper schedule in store for the racers and event team with no less than 8 races being added to the schedule following a complicated Saturday raceday.

Highlights from the final KMSC meeting of 2021.

But, once the action was underway, fans were treated to some thrilling action on track. In the CB500 class, Finn Chalk and Ross McCulloch put it all on the line with both racers being rewarded for their bravery out on track by claiming a championship apiece on the day. Chalk claimed the KMSC CB500 series, whilst McCulloch took the Scottish equivalent.

In the premier class – The KMSC Superbikes and Clubman class sponsored by Shirlaw’s Motorcycles it would be Callum Grigor who would seal the Championship. However, on the day even the new KMSC Champion was outshone by Matt Paulo who collected numerous victories along with a new KMSC lap record. In the Clubman element of the class, it was Steven Patterson who took the title ahead of Sean McTaggart.

Lewis Paterson put the finishing touches to an imperious season at the head of the Formula 600 Championship sponsored by Kirkcaldy Kawasaki, claiming his 12th race win of the season to seal both a KMSC and Scottish Championship double.

KMSC veteran, Grant Reid held off a late surge by Logan Turner and Owen Paterson to claim the KMSC Lightweight crown. Whilst the Formula 400 spoils went the way of Mark Bowran.

In the KMSC Pre-Injection class, Harry Pullar had to wait until the final moments of the season to be crowned series champion. The series had seen a ding-dong battle all season long between Pullar, McKinnon and Harper, with all three, tasting race-winning victory at various points throughout the year.

Finally, in the Motorrad Central BMW backed KMSC 125/300 class it was Liam Burns (F125) and Brandon Russell (F300) who claimed the final championships on offer via the Knockhill Motor Sports Club in 2021.

This weekend also saw the Crawford & Hardie pairing add their names to the famous Jock Taylor Trophy, along with sealing the British F2 Championship crown. The duo now head to the final Scottish Championship decider at East Fortune in a few weeks to see if they can claim a famous treble.

All that is left now is to look ahead to the new year, where we’ll get to do it all again.

See you all soon.

British F2 Sidecar Championship Preview https://www.knockhill.com/wordpress/2021/09/british-f2-sidecar-championship-preview/ Thu, 02 Sep 2021 14:22:41 +0000 https://www.knockhill.com/wordpress/?p=24413 This year’s A.C.U. / F.S.R.A. British F2 Sidecar Championship reaches its finale here at Knockhill. 2021 has been another season which has seen disruption to the racing calendar owing to the “Covid-19” pandemic – initially the series had been scheduled for its first visit north of the border in almost two decades back in April, but with restrictions stretching into the summer, we find ourselves here on the first weekend of September for round six, thanks to the Knockhill Motor Sports Club reaccommodating us on this date.

A fortnight ago at North Yorkshire’s Croft Circuit, a dominant display from Team A.R.C.’s Lee Crawford / Scott Hardie (LCR Suzuki) saw them take pole-position, a brace of wins and smash their own lap record. In doing so they accrued sufficient points to land the Super F2 title – a first for the team after seven years in the series. As regular competitors here at Knockhill – and indeed F2 lap record holders on both configurations of the circuit – they will start as favourites this weekend.

The British F2 Sidecar Championship runs a second class – the “F2 Cup”, with this being aimed at less experienced teams as they bridge the gap between club and national racing. Teams in this category also score points within the main “Super F2” class. This year has seen dominance from Harry Payne / Mark Wilkes (GP Yamaha), who whilst they did not have their best weekend of the year last time out at Croft, taking a win and a non-finish home, it was in fact sufficient for them to seal the Cup Crown. They will be making their debut as a team at Knockhill, but have already proved they are more than capable of getting on the front running pace at unfamiliar venues, so are likely to be contesting the Super F2 podium as well as the Cup.

While Payne / Wilkes look reasonably comfortable in second in the chase for the Super F2 points, there are a number of teams who will be vying to take third. Alan Founds / Jake Lowther (LCR Yamaha) have 114, while team-mates Pete Founds / Jevan Walmsley (LCR Honda) are ten points in arrears. However, both missed the last round at Croft, and are additionally rumoured to be missing this weekend. Former champions Gary Horspole / Kenny Cole (Shelbourne Honda); in-form John Lowther / Matthew Rostron (LCR Yamaha); and father and son combination Steve & Matty Ramsden (LCR Honda), all can mathematically snatch third – but will all need two solid podium finishes to be in with a reasonable chance.

In the F2 Cup, any one of Roger & Bradley Stockton (LCR Suzuki); Chris Schofield / Shane Colbrook (Baker Honda); Rob Atkinson / Mark Middleton (Bellas Suzuki); Brian Ilaria / Matthew Sims (DDM Suzuki); Bruce Moore / Amy Dodd (Ireson Honda) and Richard Hackney / Dave Ryder (CES Suzuki) can all theoretically finish either second or third in this class – so close racing is expected until the very last corner of the second of our eighteen lap races this weekend.

Lap records currently stand as follows: Super F2 – 0:53.558 – Lee Crawford / Scott Hardie – 20/09/20 F2 Cup – No Data Available (Circuit re-aligned prior to 2014 season).

The F.S.R.A. would, as always like to acknowledge the A.C.U. for their assistance and awarding the official “British Championship” title. Thanks also to our series sponsors: A.R.C. (Binchester / Newton Aycliffe); A.V. Craine & Son; Hegarty Plant Ltd; Leeds Parcel Company; Lockside Engineering; Pagid Racing (Breitenbach Rennsport); Rowtec Engineering Maintenance; and Whitby Cottages

Finally, on behalf of the F.S.R.A. and our teams, I would like to thank Knockhill Motor Sports Club for hosting us this weekend, and extend this to all their dedicated staff, officials, marshals, medics and all the other volunteers involved in organising and conducting this event. We very much hope we can continue this partnership and bring the series to Scotland on a much more frequent basis.

So the 2021 British F2 Championship comes to a close for another year – more info can be found on the website – www.fsra.org.uk

KMSC & Scottish Championship Finale this weekend https://www.knockhill.com/wordpress/2021/08/kmsc-scottish-championship-finale-this-weekend/ Mon, 30 Aug 2021 13:22:10 +0000 https://www.knockhill.com/wordpress/?p=24407 After a short sabbatical, the Knockhill Events schedule moves into its Autumn programme this weekend as we welcome both 2 and 3 wheeled action back to Knockhill Racing Circuit. Joining us this weekend is the British F2 Sidecar Championship who’ll be on track for two Championship point-scoring races this weekend – one 18 lap race on Saturday and the final 18 lap race of the 2021 season on Sunday.

We’ll also have action from the Scottish/KMSC sidecars to add to the thrill and excitement on the day. And, rounding out a memorable weekend of Sidecar racing will be the Jock Taylor Memorial Trophy race – with both Scottish/KMSC and F2 Championship competitors set to compete.

Looking ahead, it’s a busy old weekend of race action as the 2021 SACU & KMSC titles come to a dramatic conclusion. We’ll have nine main Championship classes racing over the course of this weekend with several sub-classes amalgamated into the action. Warm up and qualifying action will take place on Saturday morning, all the way through to lunchtime. Thereafter, we’ll be racing all the way to approximately 6pm each day.

KMSC Highlights from July/August

With several Scottish and KMSC titles still up for grabs, this weekend will undoubtably see some close, hard racing as the elite competitors in each class aim to stake their claims on the 2021 Scottish and KMSC Championship trophies.

In the top of the bill Superbike and Clubman class sponsored by Shirlaw’s, it’s a two-way tussle at the top of the standings; with Callum Grigor coming into the final weekend of the season with a 30 point advantage over Greg Gilfillan. The two of them raced side by side last time out across the whole weekend and we’d expect to see a similar kind of encounter to unfold at the season finale. Meanwhile, Willie Monie and Sean Gilfillan will be keen to capitalise on any on-track mistakes that either of the leading duo make over the course of five races this weekend.

There are similar battles set to unfold throughout the field, and as always, the best place to see all the action unfold is trackside this weekend. Spectator tickets can be booked online via the Knockhill website 24/7. We’d encourage everyone to pre-book in advance, however, if you simply want to wait until the day to book your tickets, then just head on up and our gate-staff will sort your admission.

Tickets are priced at: Adults £15, Conc. £10 and Family £40.
Kids under 12 go free.

Reverse KMSC and Scottish Championship racing this weekend https://www.knockhill.com/wordpress/2021/07/reverse-kmsc-and-scottish-championship-racing-this-weekend/ Fri, 30 Jul 2021 15:05:52 +0000 https://www.knockhill.com/wordpress/?p=24305 KMSC and Scottish Championship Racing returns to Knockhill this weekend when we welcome the best bike racers in Scotland back to tackle the Knockhill anti-clockwise circuit. A bumper two-day, 28 race schedule will kick off on Saturday 31st July with warm up and qualifying for all classes. From lunchtime on Saturday we’ll be racing all the way through to Sunday evening, finishing at approximately 5pm each evening.

We’ve got another strong entry this weekend across the eight racing classes including triple race winner, Callum Grigor in the Superbike/Clubman class sponsored by Shirlaws Motorcycles. Elsewhere, we’ll also see the returns of race winning duo Lewis Paterson (Formula 600) and Ross McCulloch who also bagged a hatful of wins at the opening round in the highly competitive CB500 class.

With battles set to intensify this weekend as the top challengers in each class attempt to put together a strong run of results to cement their Championship aspirations for 2021 – we’ll likely see some close intense racing throughout the weekend. In the Scottish Lightweight class, Isle of Man TT and road racing specialist Jamie Coward stole the show last time out, however, he misses out this weekend leaving that top-step void to be filled by a new name this weekend – with Oliver Barr, Logan Turner, Owen Paterson and Grant Reid set to fight it out for those race wins and podiums.

This weekend will also see the return of sidecar action to Knockhill. These three-wheel machines bring their own unique style of racing to the track. If you haven’t witnessed sidecar racing before – let’s just say you’ll be in for an eye-opening experience.

The list of classes competing this weekend include:

  • Scottish Sidecars
  • Scottish Championship Lightweights
  • Scottish Championship Formula 600s – Sponsored by Kirkcaldy Kawasaki
  • Scottish CB500s
  • Scottish Championship Superbikes & Clubman – Sponsored by Shirlaws
  • Scottish Pre-Injection 600
  • KMSC 125s/300s – Sponsored by BMW Motorrad Central
  • Tickets for the event can be booked online – with all e-tickets sent to your inbox for scanning at the gate on entry – available 24/7 even on the day of the event. This means that only 1000 spectators can attend the event, however, fans can access the paddock for the first time this season – please still be respectful of everyone’s personal space moving around any congested areas.

Hope to see you here this weekend.
