The team at Knockhill are thrilled to announce a partnership with French sports car manufacturer Alpine, with a fleet of multi-award-winning A110s becoming the main track experience cars for the start of the 2024 season. Alpine have an incredible pedigree in motorsport which continues at the very pinnacle of motorsport, with their F1 cars driven by Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon.

But it’s their diminutive sports car that has captured the world’s motoring press, with the A110 landing numerous awards since launch, including Top Gear’s “Performance & Sports Car of the Year”, Autocar’s “Five-Star car”, Octane magazine’s “Car of the Year” and Evo Magazine’s “Coupe of the Year”.

Gordon Shedden, 3 times British Touring Car Champion, said “We always strive to provide the best for our driving experiences and the Alpine A110 ticks every box for us, and more! With their involvement in F1, Alpine are a brand on the rise and the A110 is the perfect track training car for us. It’s rare that a car is so devoted to driver involvement: the A110 is quick, agile and provides enormous, accessible performance, handling and fun. Having driven it I can fully see why the world’s press has given it the full five stars – it will be perfect for our customers and they will take our experiences to a whole new level”.

The cars will arrive at Knockhill for the start of the 2024 season, supported by Specialist Cars Alpine Aberdeen and Arnold Clark Alpine Glasgow, and will be used as the instructor coaching car for the Formula Single Seater Experiences, Legends, Supercars and Performance Driving Courses. As a result, 1000s of customers a year will experience just why this special car has been awarded five stars, and significantly enhances the thrill of driving Knockhill, Scotland’s National Motorsport Centre.

We thought we’d bring you up to speed with what’s been happening over the winter at Knockhill. Here are just a few news items of note, and as always, we aim to give you the best visit possible, whether spectating, karting, driving or riding.

First Event of the Year

Although the Events season doesn’t really kick off until April, we are all looking forward to our annual opening event of the year – the Grant Construction Knockhill Stages Rally on Sunday 20th Feburary. We’ll have 50 or so crews vying for Rally glory during the 10-stage 40 mile single-venue rally.

The BIG Events of 2022

We are delighted that a strong line-up of events is confirmed for 2022, with the three highlights being the Bennetts British Superbikes on 17-19 June (Fathers Day!), the McRae Rally Challenge on 2-3 July and, of course, the Kwik Fit British Touring Cars on 30-31 July. Worth noting that both the BSB and BTCC are slightly earlier than normal, so make sure you put the dates in your diary and get your tickets soon! 

Throughout 2021, we filmed behind the scenes at our major events in what where two very different outcomes for the circuit crowd-wise. Our five-part mini-series is now all online and you can catch up with all the Episodes via the links below – all in association with Event Scotland.

Track Work & Paddock Sizes

Track work and venue improvements. We are delighted to be installing a further 4 FIA spec light panels around the track to help the marshals communicate with riders and drivers. These huge panels have improved safety no end as they are so visible and allow the track to be run as safely as possible. Off track, we are increasing our paddock space as the major event space demands are getting bigger every year.

Karting & Trackdays

Karting can now be booked online, track day registration and briefings are done at home prior to travelling and new formats for the Driving Experiences ensure the time at the circuit is the most enjoyable. If you are a regular on track, then why not consider joining the Track Day Club, its only £55 and you enjoy 10% off track time, which can add up to over £200 in a year.

McRae Rally Challenge

The McRae Rally Challenge organising team will be announcing an assembly of rally stars, past and present, the likes of which Knockhill has never seen before. We are delighted that Jimmy McRae will be attending the Grant Rally which has the biggest entry in years and will be announcing the first stars not long after. There are a few top names doing this event as practice ahead of the main event in July!

Events & Season Passes

We are delighted to be returning to 4 KMSC organised Scottish Championship bike events this year giving you the chance to see some fabulous Club racing with riders lapping at near British Championship pace. We are also honoured to be hosting the 40^th anniversary Jock Taylor Sidecar Trophy race which will also feature the British Sidecars in September.

The SMRC and KMSC car meetings are looking strong with the SMRC reverting to full day formats for 2022, kicking off in April with the return of the National Formula Fords. Round 2 in May will feature the David Leslie Trophy race for Super Tourers and a guest race of some fast Modified Fords. Around 40 Caterham Graduates visit the KMSC Super Lap Scotland event in June together with the first ever visit by the VW Cup.

It is best to purchase tickets in advance of your visit and if you are a regular visitor, then do consider purchasing a Season Ticket. There are three main types to choose from, the Gold gives you access to all events, all year and has a host of additional benefits such as discounts on our Driving Experiences and Merchandise Shop. The Four Wheel Pass is for all car events and Two Wheel for all bike event, each have additional benefits too. Black Friday Refuelled

The M4 passenger Experience is now available within the Knockhill.com (Driving Experience) checkout as an ‘optional extra’ or it can be booked as a stand-alone product on the lead up to Christmas via our special offers page.

The Experience consists of two ‘hot laps’ on-board the honed and tuned BMW Litchfield M4 driven by one of our ARDS qualified instructors. No driving licence is required and kids as young as 10 years of age can participate in this experience (minimum height – 4’5” or 135cm).

The Hot Lap Experience costs just £40 and will last approximately 20 mins. This is a superb gift idea for all non-drivers. It’s also a great idea for all of you yet to receive a Driving Experience from Knockhill this Christmas. There are lots of you!

Joy also showed us some of the step dancing that made her a viral hit after appearing in a video with fellow weather presenter Owain Wyn Jones – who famously drummed the BBC News theme tune whilst Joy tapped out her own derivative with her step dancing. The video reached thousands online and so we thought we’d do our own Knockhill version with Joy’s help… all in aid of Children in Need.

Owain recently raised over 3 million for the Children in Need fund by competing a 24hr Drumathon. The annual fundraiser hits our screens this evening at 7pm.

Fingers crossed lots more is raised for such a worthy cause.
