Following a recent test at Knockhill for FS-3 racing’s Bennetts British Superbike Championship riders, both Rory Skinner and Lee Jackson are looking forward to the main event over the weekend of 17-19 June – in just 11 days-time.
Lead BSB Commentator and Knockhill resident host, Duncan Vincent caught up with both riders ahead of the biggest bike racing event of the year at Knockhill. First up, was Rory as he and Duncan discussed the finer details of his Kawasaki Superbike versus a standard road going model kindly supplied by Kirkcaldy Kawasaki.
Rory set a blistering time in testing, as did a host of the leading riders who attended the test at Knockhill over 1-2 June, which all bodes well for an extremely competitive race meeting when the BSB and its supporting cast turn up for three days of motorcycle racing in just over one weeks-time.
On the other side of the FS-3 Racing garage, Lee Jackson has enjoyed a superb start to the 2022 season which currently sees him occupy third in the overall standings heading to Knockhill. Jackson lies just 5-points adrift of Jason O’Halloran (McAMS Yamaha) in 2nd and a further 28-points away from current Championship leader Brad Ray (Rich Energy OMG Racing).
Jackson has already tasted race-winning success this year and will be keen to put on a more consistent performance across the entire Knockhill weekend this time around.
“We didn’t have the best of year last year, I was pretty strong until the races and then it went slowly downhill from there and my teammate stole the limelight… as he would at his home event.
But it’s been good so far today, we’ve already matched our testing time from last year and with a few more things to try in the afternoon we should be able to knock some more off that time,” said Jackson.
Jackson has also claimed the team’s solitary Bennetts BSB win this season with success during race 3 of the Oulton Park meeting over the weekend of 30th April to 2nd May. As well as adding three other podiums to his name in 2022 – he’ll be a strong contender come raceday.
“Yeah, it was a great feeling,” as he recounts taking that opening BSB win of his season.
“There are a lot of people around me who have been willing me to do it for some time and now it’s finally happened. It has been a good start to the season for me and I’m looking forward to continuing that when I come back to Knockhill.”
Tickets for the Bennetts BSB event at Knockhill in association with AB2K and supported by Event Scotland can be booked online via the Knockhill website and will also be available each day of the event via the Knockhill gate.
