We take a look back at the action from Round 2 of the Rockstar Energy Chase Series, with Round 3 coming up thick and fast this weekend. Remember, there are two elements to the Chase Race Series:
1: A straight race to the finish for the on-the-road 1-2-3 places
2: Additionally, the aggregate race with competitors striving to beat their class aggregate time – consistency is key to winning this element of the race – again 1-2-3 positions up for grabs.
Ian Bonthrone was a man on a mission that weekend, wrapping up Class D Super Lap Scotland victory with a mighty impressive time, and taking a lights to flag win in the Chase Series – whilst also showing the pace and overall consistency to take the aggregate race win as well – a fine effort. Ian Pitman looked set to challenge Bonthrone from the off, however a his car jumped into limp mode and by the time he’d corrected the car, Bonthrone was off and those limping laps ultimately cost him in the aggregate race (7th) despite recovering well to finish second on-the-road in his first ever Chase race.
Further down the order, there was an almighty slog between Adam Morrison / Adam Kindness and Fiona Kindness / Colin Dorward which produced some terrific action for race fans. In the end Adam Kindness navigated his way to a P4 finish ahead of Adam Morrison which in turn placed Kindness P2 on the aggregate time with Adam Morrison taking the third and final aggregate podium place. Euan Begbie, had a lonely race in his Renault Clio – taking P3 on the road which then translated to P6 on aggregate time
This weekend, we have another decent entry for the
Chase Race with a number of our Class G, E and F competitors set to compete.
We’ll also see the return of Keith Cowie in his colourful Mac Motorsport tuned SEAT
Supercopa, whilst at the opposite end of the Cowie dinner table, Suzanne Buist will
get his first taste of Chase Race action in 2019. Yumen Lai and Euan Begbie
will again fight for Clio honours whilst Colin Dorward will take the Suzuki
Swift back out on track for some fierce competition.
Aside for the Chase and SLS action this weekend at Knockhill
(3/4 August), we’ll also be welcoming the Scottish Legends Cars, MG Trophy
races and Scottish BMW Compact Cup racers back for a full on programme of
motorsport.
