After 150 laps of wheel to wheel racing, it was 96.3 Rock Radio that emerged the victors of the Radio Karting Challenge at Knockhill yesterday. Eight teams took part, representing the biggest event of its type ever hosted with Real Radio, Rock Radio, Radio Forth, Tay, Northsound and Kingdom all having team(s).
The leading team over the line to take the chequered flag was the team from Forth One, with Boogie, Arlene and a mystery ‘Stig’ making up the third member. Boogie and Arlene did well, but every time ‘Stig’ or allegedly “Dave the over night janitor” from Forth House took over, mysteriously their team rocketed to the front with outstanding lap times, easily beating everyone else on track.
After a Stewards Inquiry, it was revealed that Gordon Shedden, one of the UK’s best Touring Car drivers was the mystery driver, and with this knowledge, the organisers took immediate and decisive action and relegated Forth One to second spot, making 96.3 Rock Radio the worthy winners, with Kingdom FM in third.
Pictured here are the winning teams on the podium, with only Boogie and Arlene on the second step with Gordon having done a runner! All entrants got a trendy new Radio Knockhill FM radio as thanks for entering as the Knockhill Radio station is shortly to go to the FM frequency. Thanks go to all the teams who came from far and wide to take part and we all look forward to the next event in the Summer.
