It’s qualifying day for the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship Lokring Northern (UK) Raceday in association with Liqui Moly and here’s Dunc with his morning update.
Qualifying takes place at 3pm this afternoon, with the BTCC drivers having two 40-minute practice sessions throughout the day to fine-tune their set-ups. Over the past few days we’ve spoken to Aiden Moffat, Rory Butcher, Dan Cammish, Adam Morgan and Daniel Rowbottom and to a man, they are all looking forward to getting their teeth into the weekend.
For Rory, he has an extra spring in his step this weekend and reckons that Honda Civic Type R should be fast out-of-the-box at Knockhill. Likewise, following a recent test at Snetterton, where former BTCC Champion Ash Sutton drove the Laser Tools Infiniti; Aiden Moffat is sure that a strong performance from the car is right around the corner. The Laser Tools squad have made no-bones about this being a development year for the car, but deep down, they’ll be hoping for some strong results this weekend with Knockhill ideally suited to the rear-wheel-drive Q50.
Tickets for tomorrow’s raceday can still be booked online, subject to pre-booking discounts until midnight this evening. (with all ticket being held at the track for collection). Tickets for today’s qualifying day can be purchased at the gate.
Come along, we’ve got action all day including that all-important BTCC qualifying session coming up at 3pm, alongside some support class qualifying and racing action later in the afternoon.
