There was friendly but competitive family rivalry between a brother and sister at the opening race car meeting of 2008 today, (30th March) at Knockhill Racing Circuit.
In the Scottish Formula Ford 1600 Championship for single seater racing cars, 21 year old Rory Butcher and big sister Jillian Shedden battled it out over 2 races around the twisting 1.3 mile racing circuit. Both were driving 150mph Van Diemen race cars.Rory, from Kirkcaldy finished 8th overall in his first race after an engine malady lost him time but he went on to a podium 3rd place in race 2.The full time racing instructor who works at the Fife track was happy enough to finish ahead of big sister Jillian (31) who also happens to be his boss as she is the managing director of the popular Scottish venue. It was Jillian’s debut in her car but after finishing 11th and 8th overall in the 2 races she is looking forward to getting some practice laps in before they line up again on 27th April.
Sounds like Jillian is going to show Rory who’s boss. Visit the SMRC website here.
