Bathgate’s Dario Franchitti showed he has the pace to battle for pole position for this year’s Indianapolis 500 tomorrow when he lapped the famous 2.5-mile superspeedway in 40.1499secs.

Two years after he became the first Scot to win the Indianapolis 500 since the legendary Jim Clark in 1965, Bathgate’s Dario Franchitti today is back in action at the classic American circuit.

Aberdeen’s Ryan Sharp, partnered by Austrian Karl Wendlinger, dominated the opening round of the FIA World GT Championship at Silverstone to deliver a debut victory for their new KplusK Motorsport team.

Aberdeen’s Ryan Sharp, bidding to win the FIA World GT Championship with Austrian team-mate and former F1 racer Karl Wendlinger, will start tomorrow’s opening round at Silverstone from pole position. 

Scotland’s Oly Mortimer, who won the opening two rounds of the British Mini Championship at Rockingham a fortnight ago, will go head-to-head with the leading Mini racers from Germany in a special one-off appearance at Silverstone later this month.
