Whilst Fife star Gordon “Flash” Shedden is sure to steal most of the limelight at the up and coming Dunlop British Touring Car Championship in his Honda Civic, there are other Scots all aiming to showcase their talents at the event too.
Gordon is lying 4th in the prestigious Dunlop British Touring Car Championship, having been one of the dominant drivers this year, backed by Cartridge World and FFDR. The “Fife Flyer” is hoping that his local knowledge will come to the fore as the 300bhp Honda is a superb handling car and will cope with the twists, turns and undulations of the unique layout of Knockhill. With two rounds to go after Knockhill, 1000’s of Scots will be willing Gordon on to strengthen his push for the title.
One driver that is already close to winning his Championship is INVERNESS driver DAVE NEWSHAM. If results go his way over the two races, Dave could win the Renualt Clio Championship outright, in front of his home crowd. With 12 poles and 10 race wins, Dave has been uncatchable this season, so much so that he already has his sights on a Touring Car drive at the last round at Brands Hatch this season, before a full assault in 2011.
In Formula Renault single seaters, a class of aspiring Formula One drivers, GOLDSPIE racer LEWIS WILLIAMSON is only 5 points behind Hungarian driver Tama Pal Kiss (after dropped scores) as he chases the 2010 title. Formula Renault is the proven stepping stone to F1 and with such a strong season, Lewis is aiming to follow in the foot steps of FORCE INDIA DRIVER PAUL DI RESTA as he pursues his dream.
Finally, in one of the most powerful sports cars classes in Europe, ABERDEEN rising star GLYNN GEDDIE is having the season of his life in the PORSCHE CARRERA CUP GB.
“Glynn (20) is one of the young rising stars of Scottish Motorsport. He has shown an amazing mix of maturity and aggression behind the wheel and is sure to be a champion of the future”, said Stuart Gray, Events Director at Knockhill.
With a Formula One demo at lunchtime on Sunday 5th, autograph sessions, TWO GIANT TV SCREENS and a full support programme, the only Scottish round of the British Touring Car Championship is set to be a classic.
