Scotland Vs England this weekend, unfortunately it WON’T be penalties that decides the winner!

At Knockhill Racing Circuit this weekend, it will be a tale of two nations, as Scotland and England clash in their own ‘Cup Final’. Bike racers from south of the border, will gather en mass at Knockhill for the latest instalment of the MEMCRC (North East Motor Cycle Racing Club) season. Scot’s riders will be looking to defend ‘home’ honor and savour victory in numerous racing classes.

The North East Club has made the annual pilgrimage to Knockhill, over the last few years. Racing fans can always expect fierce, competitive racing action when the Scots and English lock horns on the 1.3 mile British Championship circuit in Fife.

One rider looking to see off his English counterparts this weekend is Classic competitor Colin Tweedie. The Selkirk rider, onboard his Tab Honda 350 K4 will have a number of races over the weekend, with outings on both Saturday and Sunday. He will be desperate to stop Workington’s Paul Reed, with his Honda 350 K4, extending his Championship lead in Scotland.

Knockhill Events Director, Stuart Gray said, “There is always a little added spice when the North East Club come calling. The Scottish lads obviously don’t want their English equivalents stealing their thunder on home soil. While the racers heading to Scotland this weekend would love nothing more, than to head home on Sunday, with a fistful of victories and of course, all the bragging rights that go with it.”

An action packed programme kicks off on Saturday morning with practice and qualifying, before the first racing action of the weekend commences around lunch time. Sunday will see a 21 race programme, featuring classes such as Formula 400, Pre-Injection 600, Thunderbikes and the ever entertaining Open (Superbikes), with machines capable of speeds in excess of 180mph.

Some of the  Scottish riders looking to triumph this weekend include Kirckcaldy’s Matthew Kerr (F600 & Open), Endinburgh’s John Easton (Stocktwins), Aberdeen’s Dave Workman (Pre-Inj 600) and Midlothian Sidecar duo David Wrinn and Riki Sandie.
