Mixed weather conditions at Knockhill today have provided some unpredicted qualifying results. Competitors are stuck with a difficult setup conundrum with most of them wishing conditions would swing one way or the other.
The uncertainty felt by the riders was reflected in the qualifying results, with some of the Championship’s leading riders falling down the order. Indeed in the Superbike sessions, the normally consistent Bruce Birnie had to settle for 6th place on the grid. Young Clackmannan rider Andrew Tasker took full advantage by posting a time of 52.001 seconds to secure pole position ahead of Donald MacFadyen and Bryan Campbell.
Even the seemingly unstoppable Jim Laing has temporarily been dethroned by Callum Milne in the Clubman class. Laing though can be content that he is still ahead of one of his closest rivals, Alan Bryce who came home 4th quickest.
Even Scottish Superstock 600 leading rider Bryan Duncanson had a below par qualifying session, coming home in the 4th quickest time behind Callum Paterson, Liam Shellcock and Chris Cook. Duncanson though will be quietly confident heading into the races knowing that all he needs to do this weekend, is score some good Championship points with his closest rival, Michael Robertson elsewhere this weekend.
Other pole setters included:
Korie McGreevy (KMSC 125), Matthew Polanski (Pre Injection 600), G. Shand and P. Belfrey (Sidecars), Paul McClung (Supertwin) , Tom Robinson (F400).
