Knockhill Racing Circuit hosted its penultimate Hot Hatch car trackday of 2013 today (Sunday 18th November). Around 101 eager drivers took to the circuit in the new BHP orientated sessions. A vast array of models took to the circuit with a few of the participants also taking part in the free drag racing competition.
On the new sessions, Knockhill Events Director Stuart Gray commented:
“They seemed to work well today. I imagine we’ll get some feedback from those out on track and progress things from there.”
The usual mix of performance cars could be seen circulating the circuit with spectators also being treated to a glimpse of a new racing series coming to Scotland next year. The series which is based around BMW Compacts has been a big hit down south and next year, hopefully, there will be enough interest north of the border to create a series. The BMW Compact offers budding racers a relatively cheap route into motor racing. A fully prepared, race-ready BMW can be secured for as little as £4000.
Also taking to the circuit were 20 or so Ford Focuses from the Ford RS Owners’ Club. Members enjoyed a parade lap around the circuit before stopping on track for a quick photo opportunity. Hopefully we will see another strong presence in December when the Hot Hatch season draws to a close. The Hot Hatch Xmas Special will take place on Sunday 16th December, with track sessions on the Reverse Circuit available. Other entertainment will be available on the day to keep both drivers and spectators amused.
