The ground staff at Knockhill Racing Circuit have been busier than ever since the end of the 2012 race season in October. 20,000 tonnes of rock has been extracted from the infield area and 2000m of internal roads and the equivalent of 3 football pitch areas of new hard standing car parks over-looking the hairpin have been created.

Endless convoys of dumper trucks have been transporting tonnes of rock to create a network of internal roads on the hillside car parks, meaning that spectators will now remain on a hard surfaced road all the way to and from their parking space at the Superbike and Touring Car events.
Circuit Manager Ian Forrest said “I cannot praise my team any higher as they have worked tirelessly to create the network of roads over the last three months.” In addition, continuing safety works have moved back bankings on the main straight to satisfy both the clockwise and anti clockwise uses of Knockhill in 2013.
Shows the widening and levelling of the ground on the main straight and the banking has been pushed back 5m off the outside of the track beyond the bridge for reverse direction racing.
Events Director Stuart Gray said, “We are hoping for record crowds this year with the successes of Gordon Shedden in the BTCC and the emerging talents of Taylor and Tarran Mackenzie and with Stuart Easton also back to full fitness at the Superbike event.
Both our major events are already ahead on ticket sales as compared to last year at this time and we fully expect this trend to continue for each weekend. Parking is so vital, particularly with the summer that the UK endured last year, so these measures will ensure a quick and easy entry and exit to the venue, which is important to provide a great customer experience.”
