Our first full Hot Hatch day of the 2013 season brought out around 95 eager drivers looking to get back onto the Knockhill Circuit after the winter break. There were plenty of stunning machinery on view with a splattering of Imprezas, Evos, GTRs and the odd Porsche circulating on track.
Tricky conditions in the morning caught a few drivers out, some, having a few moments at the wet hairpin. Thankfully conditions improved throughout the afternoon allowing most to thoroughly enjoy their trip.
“Hot Hatch trackdays continue to provide some excellent entertainment at Knockhill,” commented Knockhill Events Director Stuart Gray.
“The numbers of drivers willing and eager to get out on track with their own cars is very impressive.
“Hopefully we can convince a few of these enthusiasts to take the modest step into SLS in the near future, and then who knows, ultimately making an impact on the Scottish racing scene, ” concluded Gray.
Elsewhere at the venue, the Glenrothes Car Club brought their very-own brand of entertainment with some spectacular Autotest action. Meanwhile, the Strathendrick Rotary Club tour also shared the limelight; as upwards of 80 Classic cars took to the track for a parade lap. The precession, almost filling the track from end to end, and in the process raising much needed funds for some great charities.
