Scot for the weekend, Danny Buchan won the feature Pirelli National Superstock 1000 race in fine fashion at Knockhill today. The Essex, Tsingtao WK Kawasaki rider took his third lights-to-flag win of the season; crossing the line ahead of his nearest rival by 9.9 seconds. Buchan also posted the fastest lap of the race with a 49.195 second lap, securing him maximum points for his efforts this weekend.
Whilst Buchan set a solitary figure out front, the action behind was both, action-packed and entertaining, culminating in a grandstand finish between four riders vying for the Superstock 1000 podium. Buildbase BMW Motorrad’s, Lee Jackson managed to pip David Johnson to 2nd position by the slimmest of margins, just 0.387 seconds. Whilst, Honda Racing’s, Jason O’Halloran had to make do with a fourth place finish, despite crossing the line just 0.097 seconds behind Johnson, a fellow Australian.
Danny Buchan said:
“We had the pace all weekend; we just needed to put that all together in the race. I could see the gap opening on my pit board, so l just kept chipping away. Thanks to all my sponsors and thanks to all the fans for turning out to see us today. It’s always good to see so many people here to watch us.”
