Laser Tools Racing has confirmed that following a successful, productive and satisfying test session at Donington Park on Thursday (23 October), the team will be running a Mercedes-Benz A-Class for the 2015 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season. The move to a Mercedes has been initiated by the strong ties forged over the latter half of the 2014 season with Ciceley Motorsport and their race-preparation and engineering assistance on the team’s Chevrolet Cruze.
Laser Tools Racing Team Manager Bob Moffat stated, “The team’s performance changed instantly with the liaison with Ciceley Motorsport, resulting in a brace of points-scoring finishes in the final rounds at Brands Hatch.
“This has given us the confidence to continue with Ciceley and it makes perfect sense to run the Mercedes-Benz A-Class after the car’s terrific performance this season. Reinforced by today’s test session at Donington — Aiden loves the car and has already been displaying some impressive lap times.”
Deep in conversation with Ciceley’s Race Engineer Paul Ridgeway, Aiden Moffat added: “I felt immediately at home in the car — it’s accepted that the Cruze has a twitchy chassis and can be unpredictable on the limit — but the Mercedes is giving me more feedback from the chassis right from this very first drive. I can’t wait to really get to grips with the car and drive it in anger.”
Ciceley Motorsport team owner Russell Morgan is also enthusiastic: “This is an exciting prospect for the future. The ability to share data can only move both teams forward in their quest for future championship success. The partnership will prove to be jointly beneficial for both teams and exciting times are ahead.”
The Laser Tools Racing team approaches the 2015 BTCC season with confidence and will be unveiling Aiden Moffat’s Mercedes-Benz race car early in the new year.Tickets for the Knockhill round go on sale this Friday with a special early bird rate!
