Hot on the heels of the McRae Rally Challenge, Knockhill will host another time-trial type event this weekend – 23/24 May – as the Super Lap Scotland Championship makes its way back for rounds 2 and 3 of the 2015 season.
And just like the McRae Rally Challenge, competitors will be predominantly up against the clock – all in search of that perfect lap – whilst also keeping an eye on the timing boards to see who is posting the fastest times of the day in each of the six Championship classes.
And the winner… is the competitor who holds his nerve on a single-lap shoot-out at the end of the day. There’s only one shot at glory, no going back and the pressure come the end of the day… is intense. But, for the lucky ones in each class, victory will keep them on track to be crowned overall ‘King of Knockhill’.
The SLS Championship is the perfect bridge between the trackday enthusiast and full-blown circuit racing. The Championship is a great place to start if you are looking to enter some timed competition. You’ll take to the track alongside fellow competitors for practice and warm up; but the competition element will see you take to the track, in clear space; giving you the best possible chance of recording the fastest time.
This weekend (Saturday 22nd May) is actually FREE to all spectators and an SLS open day. If you are interested in finding out more about the competition, or indeed wonder whether your car is eligible (road, track or race car); come and speak to our scruitineers on the day. They’ll provide excellent advice and you can even catch up with SLS our driver liaison – British GT star Rory Butcher.
Additionally, the event will see a number of Hot Hatch sessions take place on the Sunday (23rd May); where up to 56 drivers will take to the unique twists and dips of Knockhill behind the wheel their own cars – with brands like of Subaru, Mitsubishi, BMW and Ford always well represented.
Sunday will also see us host a special Japanese themed car show where we are expecting to welcome hordes of Japanese models from up and down the country. If you are a fan of Japanese car brands, then make sure you come along and enjoy a whole host of Japanese metal from manufacturers like Honda, Suzuki, Toyota and Mazda littering the Knockhill paddocks.
Alex F Noble and Son will also be bringing along a few special Nissan models on Sunday 24th May. This year marks the 45th Anniversary of the iconic Nissan GTR; and as such, Nissan have marked the special landmark by creating 100 Anniversary Edition GTRs – we’ll have one of these special cars (in gold no less) on display, and paraded this Sunday, as well as other examples from the Nissan Nismo range.
In between all the track action, we’ll also have some highly entertaining Drifting demos on the Knockhill track. Elsewhere, our outdoor karting track has a number of spaces available in its Cadet, Pro and Family sessions (from 2.30 to 4.00pm). Our new fleet of Sodi LR5 and Sodi GT2 karts have been going down a storm, and this Sunday will give you a chance to sample them first-hand. At the moment, the Karting Centre also has some availability for Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning (10-12pm) where you can pre-book a time-slot to compete on track. 50% deposit required and pre-booking highly recommended.
Action on Saturday will start at a slightly later time of 2pm, with round two of the SLS Championship on the Reverse Circuit. Sunday’s 3rd round will see action interspersed with drifting demos, Hot Hatch sessions and parades from 9am onwards on the International track.
Spectator admission is FREE on Saturday – a great opportunity to come along and sample what SLS is all about.

Adult £13, Concession £8 and Family £34; a family ticket purchased in advance is only £20 – a great £14 saving to be had – whilst all kids under 12 go free.
